SIS, Swedish Standards Institute

SIS is an independent non-profit association with members from both the private and public sectors. As SIS is a non-profit association, it is the members' needs and requirements that steer our business.

SIS and the project participants draw up standards within most areas, e.g. building and constructions, health and medical care, consumer products, leadership/management systems, material and mechanical technology, the environment and safety. The best known standards are ISO 9000 for quality management and ISO 14000 for environmental management.

SIS is part of the European and global network that prepares international standards. We are member of the European co-operation, CEN and the global co-operation, ISO. Together, we have produced about 16,000 standards that apply. By taking part in standardisation work, Swedish companies, organisations and authorities can influence the detailed regulations (= the standards) within your business.
