As a national member body of international standardization organizations
such as ISO and IEC, the Korean Agency for Technology
and Standards(KATS) seeks to increase the competitiveness of
Korea's industries and the trade sector by establishing national standards
not only in the manufacturing industry, but also in areas such as safety,
environment, health, transportation, information, and cultural service.
KATS also works to improve the quality of life by ensuring consumer safety,
and focuses on improving policies for standards, safety, standard technology
support, WTO/TBT, certification, and measurement in order to increase
business efficiency and to support international standardization of Korea's
technology.
