The Committee for
Standardization, Metrology and Certification under the Council of Ministers
of the Republic of Belarus (Gosstandart) is the republican body of the
governmental administration concerning technical regulation, standardization,
metrology, conformity assessment and implements its activity directly
and via entities in charge constituting a uniform system.
Main objectives:
- Implementation in the Republic of Belarus of uniform governmental policy
in the field of technical regulation, standardization (except standardization
in construction*), metrology and conformity assessment, regulation carrying
out and management in this field;
- Ensuring of protection of governmental and customers interests in establishment
and observance of mandatory requirements in technical regulation, standardization,
metrology and conformity assessment;
- Ensuring of functioning and development of technical regulation and
standardization system including for the sake of the state defence, its
harmonization with international systems, including into the drafts of
technical regulations, standards on products, works and services of requirements
guaranteeing safety of human life, health and heredity, property, compatibility
and interchangeability and environmental protection;
- Ensuring of functioning and development of the state system of classification
and coding of technical and economic and social information of the Republic
of Belarus;
" Organization and ensuring of functioning traceability system in
the Republic, improvement and development of the state metrological service;
- Ensuring of functioning and development of the National system of conformity
attestation in the Republic of Belarus, organization and carrying out
of works on conformity attestation to requirements of technical normative
and legal acts within the scope of technical regulation and standardization
of produced in the republic and imported products works, services, personnel,
quality management system;
- Ensuring of functioning and improvement of Accreditation System of the
Republic of Belarus;
- Organization and coordination of works for international co-operation
of the Republic of Belarus in the scope of standardization, metrology
and conformity assessment.
